Civic-Champions at the State Capital!

Build 2 Lead’s Civic-Champions and Youth Executive Committee visited the Washington State Capitol Building in partnership with Poverty Action Network’s 2025 Lobby Day!

Build 2 Lead youth led the “Activist Corner” engaging with attendees and advocating for issues related to youth violence, transitions to adulthood, and mental and behavioral health.

Youth Executive Committee members were able to attend lobbying sessions with staff from Rep. Jamila Taylor and Senator Claire Wilson's office.

The purpose of our “Civic-Champions” program is to “create conscious leaders and community connectors” through curriculum and experiential tracks to civic-engagement.

Our youth not only demonstrated their ability to advocate, but to organize and strategize on how to elevate community concerns to decision makers through youth voice.

We are truly proud of our Civic-Champions and will continue to empower, engage, and educate the community!
