Build 2 Lead returns this year with another Melanin and Medicine Event at Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way on February 22nd!
Build 2 Lead has been building our B2L Legacy Initiatives since 2021 which center on providing connections and experiences with BIPOC healthcare professionals. Our initiatives include the P.O.W.E.R. Conference, field trips, speakers, and now the Melanin and Medicine event!
This year's Melanin In Medicine event will be a collaborative effort with Thomas Jefferson High Schools Black Student Union, Build 2 Lead’s Legacy Initiative and council of healthcare partners known as the P.O.W.E.R Council. This years event will focus on creating introductory pathways to healthcare careers for BIPOC youth through authentic and engaging conversations with BIPOC healthcare professionals.
Students and invited guests will enjoy food, youth performances, keynote guest speakers, and networking opportunities with our P.O.W.E.R. Partners.
A huge shout out to our Partners in this event:
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Federal Way Public Schools, HealthPoint Community Clinic, Thomas Jefferson High Schools Black Student Union, Morehouse School of Medicine, MiCA, P.O.W.E.R Council, U.W. Medicine-Physicians Clinic
