B2L End of Academic Year Report

ree

As Build 2 Lead wraps up the 2024-2025 academic year, we want to highlight the significant growth demonstrated by our students across educational, social-emotional, and leadership programming. Throughout the year, students have shown measurable progress in academic achievement, emotional resilience, interpersonal skills, and leadership development, all of which are critical for long-term success.

The Build 2 Lead End of Year Report lays out the pathways we use to encourage "the whole child" through our B2L Direct Programs in schools as well as the opportunities provided through our Legacy Programs.

This report also explores the challenges encountered—ranging from resource limitations to evolving student needs—and identifies key opportunities for continued growth and improvement. Most importantly, it underscores the profound and lasting impact that our comprehensive, student-centered programming has on nurturing confident, capable, and community-minded individuals.

Some Major Highlights:

  • Through our B2L Direct programs we served 92 students. Our youth are diverse with 96% identifying as BIPOC.

  • Through our B2L Legacy work we built case management pathways to focus on the “whole child.” Our B2L wellness initiative offered 43 hours of youth centric case management hours. 5 of the youth received free life coaching and therapy services through Build 2 Lead and our partners.

  • Through our B2L Direct programs 24 students graduated from our Civic-Champions program, receiving 72.5 hrs. of hours of civic-engagement through our workshops.

  • 40 students graduated from our “Closing the G.A.P” program culminating into over 2400 hours amount of pre-apprenticeship training through our partner “Roots of Success.” Each student received a federally recognized pre-apprenticeship certification as an “Environmental Specialist.”

  • 25 students graduated from our “Reaching for Greatness” program. Through this work 28 students gained over 50 hours of social and emotional development with a focus on identifying students' cultural and social norms building a foundation of trust, respect, and relationship for rising middle school and middle school participants.

  • Through our B2L Legacy events and field trips over 300 youth engaged in healthcare career workshops, navigating the system of healthcare and education trainings, waste management career and wastewater career workshops, and moved out of classroom and into the community to participate in hands-on site visits to healthcare facilities and civic-spaces within the state capital.

We are so proud of our students and all the hard work they put into their growth and personal development!
