Build 2 Lead welcomes 2 new P.O.W.E.R. Council members, Teah Hoopes and Kelvin Peprah!
The P.O.W.E.R. Council's primary goal is to collaborate with healthcare organizations, governments, systems, and communities to develop strategies, advocate for policy changes, and implement initiatives that drive health equity in our communities.
The power council is made up of healthcare organizations, providers, and professionals who are passionate about making a difference in healthcare. Our members believe that everyone deserves equal access to quality care, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Teah Hoopes, MPH, is a public health researcher and research manager with nearly two decades of experience leading and supporting equity-centered clinical and community-based research. She brings a deep commitment to antiracism and health justice to her work, with a career spanning HIV/STD prevention, maternal health and pediatric care. While at Public Health – Seattle & King County, Teah served as co-chair of the Equity and Social Justice Committee within the Prevention Division, where she helped shape policies and programs grounded in racial equity and community partnership. Currently, Teah is a Research Manager at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, where she oversees a large PCORI-funded study focused on improving pediatric preventive care outcomes for low-income children. She also serves on the institute’s Research and Antiracism Committee (RARC), advancing efforts to embed antiracist practice across research systems. She is also a co-chair on the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic’s Governance Council. Her commitment to community-based solutions extends beyond her professional roles — she has volunteered with the Social Justice Fund and AARTH (African Americans Reach and Teach Health), and currently coaches youth in track and field and cross-country with one of Seattle’s premier youth running clubs, Rain City Flyers. These roles reflect her passion for empowering youth, promoting physical well-being and investing in sustainable, community-rooted approaches to health equity.

Kelvin Peprah, M.A., is a therapist, mental health consultant, and speaker with over a decade of experience supporting professionals of color in navigating identity, trauma, confidence, and workplace well-being. His work bridges mental health, racial equity, and organizational culture, with a focus on belonging and psychological safety. Kelvin’s career spans psychiatric hospitals, community mental health programs, and university-based initiatives. Today, he leads a consulting firm that partners with employers and public agencies to build trauma-informed, culturally responsive systems that improve retention and employee wellness. His signature frameworks, Overcoming the Impostor Syndrome Cycle, The Toll of Microaggressions, and Preventing the Burnout Cycle, equip organizations to support their people while driving impact. Originally from Ghana, Kelvin immigrated to the U.S. at age 11, a journey that continues to shape his passion for representation, healing, and community-rooted care.
We are excited to have these health care professionals join our team!
